Styling For Spring

Spring is almost here and it’s time to dust off the cobwebs and get your house ready for the busy spring market.

Whilst it’s difficult to know where to start, it pays to spend some time walking around your home and making a list.  Taking photos is a great way to create a visual log and can also highlight the necessary jobs.  Grab a notepad, pen and a camera and a helping hand if possible.  Look at your home as a potential buyer and get critical with the minor details.  What you overlooked for years someone else may see immediately.  After all, first impressions are critical because buyers often make up their mind about a property within minutes of an inspection.

Here is a checklist of what to look out for:

EXTERNAL

  • Repair broken or damaged fences, letterboxes, windows, doors and flyscreens.
  • Pressure clean driveway and paths.
  • Remove cobwebs from windows, gutters and eaves.
  • Weed and mulch the garden.
  • Cut back hedges or shrubs from windows to let in light.
  • Replace the doormat with a new one.

INTERNAL

  • Paint walls in a neutral colour.
  • Professionally steam clean the carpets.
  • Clean the windows, light fittings, light switches, skirting boards and architraves.
  • Update or remove dated curtains or blinds.
  • Tidy inside kitchen cupboards, linen closets and wardrobes.
  • Style your home with updated furnishings.
  • Place fresh flowers

Using the services of a stylist will add value to your home by presenting it at its best.  A stylist will bring in colourful artwork, cushions and decorative accessories.  Plus a stylist can update any outdated or tired look furniture.
